It’s amazing how often most of us live our day to day lives with no definite plan in mind. This usually results from our lack of vision, failure to realize God’s plan for our lives and/or our inability to chart a defined course for ourselves and diligently work towards its fulfilment. Anyway, my thought this morning is not so much about planning as it is about letting God’s will prevail even if it doesn’t fit into our plans and projections. He is our Maker and sure has His purpose for our lives. It is therefore key for everyone to discover this purpose and trust God with our plans towards fulfilling destiny.

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails”- Proverbs 19:21 [NIV]

Preparation is very essential for every good success. Planning saves time and breeds faith and confidence. It’s a common cliché that he who fails to plan is actually planning to fail and yet, while the best approach to planning is to seek God’s face and let Him guide and direct our plans according to His will for us, it’s much more common to see us trying to figure it out for ourselves and then going to God to rubber stamp our so called heart desires. The irony of the latter approach is that our plans are basically influenced by our emotions and prevailing circumstances and these often tend to clash with God’s will and are also not usually faith based. Because of our usual emotional attachments and other factors on which these plans are based, we find it so hard to let go and let God have His way. Since He gave us the free will to choose, we became predisposed to clinging to our ways and plans and still want Him to fit into them somehow. We subtly reject His will and just want to ‘eat our cake and still have it’.

Wise King Solomon stressed it in Proverbs 3:5&6 that when you trust God with all your heart and acknowledge Him in all your ways and expectations, you’ll not lean on your plans and/or understanding. You’ll continually let Him guide and guard you. You’ll let Him direct your dealings and make Him your saviour, friend and master. This is one sure antidote to a stressful life. It is key to living the God-filled, success-packed, impactful life!
